How we developed the Mural
In Woodcock Park there is a wall that lies next to the path that leads to the park. The wall was always painted what can only be described as snot green. It was constantly being daubed with graffiti and then being repainted in small patches.
Friends of Woodcock Park approached St. Gregory’s School which is situated nearby. They asked if the school would be willing to get students to submit designs for a mural to cover the wall.
St Gregory’s agreed to the request. Meanwhile Friends of Woodcock Park were given permission for the mural by the company responsible for the wall.
The theme for the mural was to echo the park i.e. trees, grass, playground scenes etc and a year 8 student produced a superb design.
St Gregory’s applied for funding from Ward Working monies and then found a mural company to work with the students to produce the fantastic mural that now graces the wall.
The mural is enjoyed and appreciated by everyone that visits the park. It even contains dogs that actually visit the park, and our thanks go to St Gregory’s whose students and staff made this possible.
